| Put me in the no Tequila crowd.
I drank nearly an entire bottle of Cuervo 1800 on New Years Eve in Lake Tahoe when I was seventeen or eighteen. I worked in an italian restaurant that was a front for some shady folks but that's a different story.
The manager opened the bar to all the employees legal and otherwise after the final seating left at around 11PM. I only remember a few things after midnight. I remember falling off a bar stool and not realizing I had fallen until my dome impacted the floor. I shared a cab home with another one of the employees.
I woke up the next morning with cuts, bruises and a nasty gash on the back of my head. I did remember taking the cab ride (vaguely) and asked my friend who beat the hell out of me.
He informed me that I fell down the ice covered stairs from my second story apartment. Twice.
To this day, the smell of tequila, let alone the taste of the stuff, yes even the finest of the bunch makes me gag.
Around here we call the stuff mexican LSD. Drink enough and you will halucinate.

| GA - Yikes!
That would be enough to make me give it up.
Fortunately, the worst it's ever done to me is make me wake up with no clothes on with....aw heck, it gave me a bad hang-over....

| Commemorativo is my label. Although I just noticed a dead soldier "Two Fingers" in my recyle bin. Yes, indeedy, it's that time of year. Nice Jimmy Buffett post - he released his own tequila a few years ago, haven't had it. Think it's called Margaritaville, of all things. Hussongs was my Baja bar of choice back in the real Tequila daze. Now, that was a bar. | | | |

| Just like Kona, this is my first post as well ........ of all places the tequila board first.
My Fiancee and I have been experimenting lately with tequila tasting. One of our local restaurants sponsered a tequila tasting night so we figured what the heck! What an experience! So we decided to do a little tequila tasting with some friends. We we're pouring Don Julio Blanco, Don Julio Anejo, Patron Anejo, 1800 Millenium edition. Our favorite?? Don Julio Blanco! If you get the chance try a shot of Don Julio Blanco, a splash of Damiana and a squeeze of lime juice!! YAHOO!!! We've named it a Don Juan.

| I accept full responsibility for ........... ughhhhhhh ........... forget it. Here's a brief description of Damiana from the www.damiana.net website: Damiana Liqueur is a light herbal-based liqueur from Mexico. It's made with the damiana herb that grows in Baja California, Mexico. It has great mixability and tastes great as a shooter. The bottle is shaped like a pregnant woman and is modeled after the Incan Goddess of Fertility. The Damiana Margarita is very popular in the Los Cabos area of Mexico and Mexican margarita folklore says that the very first margarita ever made was made with Damiana Liqueur (not that silly French liqueur). As far as availability goes, check out the website for a distributor in your area. I found a local liquor store that orders it for me. | | | |

| ncvl, i was eyeing the don julio at the store this evening. i am a bigger fan of anejo than blanco. do you usually have a preferance or are you neutral and really thought the blanco was better in this case? | | | |

| Hiya TBird, I really thought the Blanco was much better. We did a side by side with the Don Julio Blanco and Anejo and the Blanco won hands down. I've been eyeing the Don Julio Reposado for our next tasting, and the Casa Noble Crystal. Oh man! I can see where this is headed. I'm gonna have to have a few people over for this next tasting so we can have a wide assortment of premium tequilas. Do you want an absolute killer tequila?? I bought my Dad a bottle of Corralejo Reposado a couple of months ago. We took it to my folks house and my Dad couldn't wait to open it and give it a try. So he poured three glasses for us, my Dad, my fiancee, and myself. My Mom having had past "experiences" with tequilas did not wish to partake in our afternoon tasteing. WOW !!!! what and awesome reposado! My Mom finally broke down and tried some and couldn't believe how smooth it was. Now I've got my Dad hooked on good tequila and good vino. | | | |

| OK, there is a Damiana distributor in Georgia. That means I can most likely get it. I look forward to giving your little recipe a try.
And as for the Corralejo, I was drinking some Saturday night. Fajitas and Margaritas under the stars with friends. That always works.
Next victim on my tasting adventure: Herradura
Will also check out the Don Julio - I see it everywhere but have never been tempted until now. Now I am. Thanks.

| DdB, alright !!!! your gonna love it .......... you did understand that Damiana is an old aphrodisiac from south of the border......... Well, that's what "they" say ........ all I can say is that my friends left our place looking quite flushed and in a hurry after a few Don Juan's and a long game of dominos ...... LOL.
Here's one more recommendation for you guys. I've never been a big fan of margarita mix's in a bottle so I've always either made my own from scratch or start with frozen limeaid. Well that all changed a couple of weeks ago. BevMo was doing a couple of tastings of bloody mary mixs and some margarita mixs. Well, after our Silver Oak tastings we figured all right, we'll give this dudes mixes a try. Turned out the "dude" was Bone Daddy of Dr. Swami & Bone Daddy's Gourmet Mix's. I told him about my reservations using bottled margarita mixs, he totally agreed and said "Dude, you gotta give ours a try" Hmmmmm....... not bad, I took a bottle home and made a pitcher of margaritas ........... very good and a lot less work. But that's not the end of the story ........ over the weekend my fiancee and I picked up some tacos at our favorite taqueria, mmmmmmm, and she was craving a margarita with dinner. Ughhhh...... so much work, even with the premix. I got it !! how about a margarita on the rocks? aha! and a splash a Damiana for later (wink, wink). AWESOME !!!!!! I followed Bone Daddy's recipe on the bottle using Mix, Don Julio Blanco and Damiana over good quality ice. The good Bone Daddy recommended using El Tesoro Tequila Plata for his margaritas. Ahhhhhh ........ another bottle of tequila to try

| Ok, the distributor is going to call me back about the Damiani. He says no problem getting it, just wanted to call around to find a store that has it in stock. Looks like next weekend may turn into an ultimate margarita party... Lets' see: 1) Good tequila - check 2) Damiana - in process 3) Margarita mix - hmmm...gotta order that... 4) Ice - a staple in this home This will do nicely | | | |

| To be honest, I don't care for frozen Margaritas. It seems so much like a slushy and not a good drink. I'll only have them on the rocks. But then I also drink my Ketel One on the rocks. | | | |

| Right, the one I've got in house is Olmeca. No idea if this is pure class but it's better than Jose and makes good Margharitas. Frozen Margs are just grown up Slush Puppies.
TBird, love the kitten.

| Refuse a margarita?? you margarita snobs I guess I just haven't grown up yet, I still search out Fat Tuesdays at the MGM in Sin City for those frozen concoctions BRAIN FREEZE !!!!! YEAH BABY ! We did a little tequila tasting this weekend and added a few more to our list. Don Julio Blanco - still our favorite blanco tequila. smooth with a sweet taste. Patron Silver (new) - a bit harsh with a bigger nose, peppery, with a long finish. Don Julio Reposado (new) - kind of a menthol finish, peppery Cazadores Reposado (new) - oaky, very smooth, not a big nose but very good. Corazon de Agave (new) - wood nose, wet pine? opened up to a much harsher taste. Corralejo Reposado (new) - very smooth, nice finish, not real oaky. Don Julio Anejo (new) - very smooth, silky mouth feel, oaky The favorite of the night. We're hopping to do another tasting in a few weeks and expanding our group of tasters. We've had a few friends who's interests have been peaked and are willing to bring a bottle or two. Hey Tbird | | | |
