| Lilac: On the Espresso Coffee machines. I am going to wait. I want to buy a Good 1, & they are expensive. The better machines run between $800.00-$2,500.00. Have to do some research & shop around. So, for now, I am happy with my French Press.
You know, lately (last 6-8 months), I have been drinking about 2 cups a day (after Dinner) instead of Wine. I've actually replaced Wine with Coffee (for now). Used to drink a bottle in 1-2 days (with Dinner). But, Not as much lately. Been concentrating on the Coffee(s).

| Just tried some new Coffee from Peet's. For those of you that use Peet's or just FYI (if interested), try the "Holiday Blend". They ONLY offer this during this time of the year. It is a Blend of 3 or 4 Coffee Beans. But, I forgot the Beans that they blend. Good Coffee rich, smooth, blackberry, cigar, & chocolate. Long, smooth, tasty finish. No too acidic. Not "power" Coffee (i.e. Sumatra Manhandling, 100% Kona), but makes for a very nice cup. | | | |

| Also, our friend Corkage just sent me some "Sulawesi Toraja" Coffee. Thank You. I never tried this, yet. This Coffee comes from 1 of the Best Coffee-growing regions of this world (Indonesia). I had the "Sulawesi Kalosi" Coffee & it is Great. I posted TNs on it (somewhere in this thread). But, some History on the "Sulawesi"-region. The 1 that Corkage sent may be better Coffee than the "Kalosi" Beans. Because, Torajaland produces the best quality Coffee in that region. Sumatra & Sulawesi are related as far as Coffee goes (in Coffee terms). So, I am really looking forward to it. | | | |

| Well, my 1st cup of the Sulawesi Toraja that was sent to me by Corkage. Very close to the Sulawesi Kalosi-coffee being that they both come from the same region. This 1 has a richer taste, darker-richer roast & more body but lacks the fruit/overall flavor of the Kalosi. Both have their own preferred characteristics. Both make for a Great cup of Coffee but Not on the level of those few elite Beans. Very nice. Thank You, Corkage. | | | |

| Glad you liked them. While I like the Sulawesi Toraja, I have to admit its not in my top 3 either, maybe my top 6 or 7. I thought it would be a good bean for you to taste because of your preference for Sulawesi (obviously, among other beans).
I find that I always have to rotate beans, otherwise I get used to a particular style and flavor and lose some appreciation. Do you find that the case as well?

| Another WOWer. Tasted last night for the 1st time. Really up there with the Best of them (Indonesian Sumatra Mandheling, 100% Pure Hawaiian Kona Peaberry Dark Roast, Cuban Turquino, etc...).
The aroma fills the room (when the Package is just opened).
...And, when brewing &/or drinking &/or grinding...forgetaboutit
Not as powerful (raw power) as the Beans mentioned above, but as much flavor & body & richness. And, makes up in the lack of pure "power" in the overall taste. But, sometimes you want something that is a little less "power", but still has the "body".

Actually, a Coffee-friend. He finds a lot of the "rare" Coffees. I will try to get some info from him.

| LCC hooked me up with some Sierra Dorado blend beans from Peets. Thanks buddy.
After a couple of false starts, I was able to make my version of the perfect cup. On saturday when the beans came in, I was in withdrawal mode because of a lack of good beans for the prior week. I made the coffee but administered it IV so I really couldn't taste it. On Monday, I couldn't get the ground right and ended up making a very strong (but tasty) cup that I'm still shaking from.
This AM, got it right. The freshly ground beans have a toasted nuttly aroma with a hint of chocolate rounded out by butter nuances that you find in fresh roasted coffee. Medium to full body. I scored it in one of my top 5 coffees recently tasted.
LCC, please post the blend. Thanks again!

| Call me a Philistine, but if I had to chose between wine and coffee, never to see the other, I am afraid coffee would win. I'm not one of those who is a fanatic about my coffee having to be a certain type, though I hate Maxwell House type coffees, but I probably drink 5 or 6 cups a day, down from a hight of 12-15 when I was both in college and working full time. (can I spell sleep deprivation?) I have a cup or two before leaving for work, pick up a latte on the way in to the office after leaving the METRO and then have two or three while at work.
I do insist on grinding my own beans at home, and my wife has a special fondness for Mexican beans and I like Sumatra Mandheling, so that is what we usually have, and there is nothing like the smell of a freshly brewed cup. I grew up in a house where there was always a pot on, perked, not drip, and when it was gone another was made. I usually have coffee after a meal out, and my son (now almost 15) has started making expresso on the weekends for himself.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE wine, but I can't live without coffee.

I know the experience all too well. My morning coffee mug I take to work is twice the size of the one I used 10 years ago.
However, I would switch to tea to get my kick. Wine and tea. Yeah, I could do that.
