| But that was nothing compared to the drama and impact of the S-O Auslese with the truffled micuit. Both rieslings were doubledecanted at home, but the Selbach could have improved for another couple of hours effortlessly. Unctuous, smelling of such a wide array of pleasant things unlikely to be found in perfect harmony inside a single bottle! Apple and flowers to be sure, but what about the vague orange blossom, quince, mineral notes, delicious sweetness... A wine to make you repent for having shared it...and to rejoice in the knowledge that another bottle awaits you... 93++

| You're killing me with these great notes, Gastro. Now I'm wondering how I can sneak home for a quick lunch and a glass of '01 Auslese. | | | Cheers, y'all | |

| Stemor, why stop at just one glass? You know you want to drink the whole bottle... | | | |

| This is a great wine. I was able to get 4 in Zeltingen in the wine shop at the basement of our hotel. We had one for dinner in the restaurant (also in the basement adjacent to the wine shop). I could never find the auslese** which people raved about in eBob, but I can't see how it could be any better than the auslese* that I got. I believe that it was only 22e - what a steal. | | | |

| Gatc, I just recently saw the Zelt Sonn Auslese **, I think. What would be a good price for it? I think it was $28 each.

| Actually, it was the '99 Zelt Sonn Auslese **, is that worth purchasing at $24.99? Thanks.

| I have not had the 99, so I have no idea. I can tell you that the 01 would be in the $40-45 range if it was not long gone. The problem is that it is probably shut down now and even if you tried one bottle, it would not be a good indication how good the wine is. | | | |

| The '99 is very good (I've had it twice & have three more), but can't hold a candle to any of the S-O auslesen from '01. | | | |

| S-O's Kabinett '01 was a delicious wine as well for around $17 bucks. | | | |
