| From Pfalz, Germany $14CAD
Pale yellow in colour. Aromas of apple, lychee, pear and a bit of creaminess. Off-dry, decent acidity. Medium-bodied with apple, pear, minerals, and tropical fruit on the palate. Moderate finish. Good pairing for sushi. 87 points.

| Futronic,
Do you know anything about this producer? When I was in Nurnberg a few years ago I picked up a few bottles of the 1999 Anselmann Eiswein. Unfortunately, no one in the wine shop spoke any English, and I don't speak German, so I couldn't get any background on these bottles.
But, hey, for $15 per bottle of Eiswein, I figured it'd be worth the gamble.

| Anselmann sells "a lot" (ie there are at least nine different bottlings available from a LARGE chain with stores all over Spain) here but it's regarded as fairly poor. Maybe the 2001 vintage boosted quality for them too, but it's not a producer I'd buy if I can help it.... | | | |

| Unfortunately I don't know anything about the producer. I bought the wine on a recommendation from a Vintages rep at one of our large LCBOs. I asked specifically for an off-dry Riesling or Gewurz, and he showed me a couple of those but then said if I wanted to try something a little different, to give this a shot.
The price was right, so I said what the heck. As I said in my note, it worked nicely with the sushi (and plenty of wasabi, naturally).

| Thanks Gast and Futronic. Any bit of info is interesting. I had opened one of the Eisweins and it's just fine. Didn't blow me away, but it was ok. Now I know that's about what I should have expected -J | | | |

| I quite enjoyed the '99 Anselmann TBA, available for between $25 and $30 per 375ml. | | | |
