1997 Dr. Loosen Riesling Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese Grosser Ring -- I know '97 is a low-acidity vintage, not suitable for long aging, but I wouldn't know that from drinking this wine. Second time I've had it, and it shows very nicely. Pale gold, with intense aromas of apple, mineral, and hints of petrol; fairly thick and silky; delicious apple, slate, honey, and melon flavors that extend into a long finish. App. 90-1 pts.
