Georg produces some wonderful single vineyard rieslings from the Rheingau. I had this in a small Ale house in Russelsheim, un beknownst to me the winery facilities were about three hundred meters up the road and I found this out several weeks later. The label is quite differant from traditional German labels dominated by a large Abstract print and the information written in very small font at the bottome of the label.

I had this in late 1997 when I was seeing family in Wiesbaden. I had stopped for lunch as most of my family were out working.

Colour: softer gold than I've expirienced from other rieslings.
Nose: Initial hints of botrytis and honey disappeared to reveal interesting flinty pear notes. Petroly notes very minor but also evident.
Palate: Distinctive palate as acids seem to dominate the palate initially but seem to evolve magically in the mouth to an abundance of flavours as if the wine was transforming. Slightly bitter character but this fades faster than the flavorus leaving the mouth with your taste buds zinging. Length is good finishing around the mid palate, and the flavours fade softly and slwoly.
Overall: An enjoyable wine, not bad for 28 Dmarks, maybe a little too expensive. 16 points.
