2001 Pfeffingen Scheurebe, Auslese – Sweet, floral, and fruity, with lots of tropical fruit, pear, apple, and mint. Full and sweet on the palate, leading to a long, fruit-driven finish. HDW 93 $21.99/375 ml

My rating 93 points. Very enjoyable wine, too bad HDW was out of this. Guess I will have to settle for the Spatlese instead, which I purchased without tasting.

My white of the night. I love the tropical fruit that Sheurebe typically has. This was no exception. The concentration and purity of flavor was a real treat. 93 points is a fair rating that I agree with.

It was nice to taste this alongside the Chambers Muscat just to see how different two stickies from completely different regions compare. Like apples and oranges. Both were delicious in their own way.

Scheurebe's can be very nice (tropical fruit is a great description), but they don't age well. I bought a case of 1989 Scheurebe BA based on Vino Me's recommendation and it was pretty madeiralized. A 13 year old BA is pretty young for a riesling or rieslaner, but for a scheurebe, it was too much.

I should mention that if you like this wine, you will probably like the 2001 Kurt Darting Durkheimer Nonnengarten Rieslaner Auslese. For $19.99 (fof a 750ml), it is a steal and drinks like a BA.
