Has anyone tried this? It is awefully expensive but it just might be otherworldly. Any thoughts?

It was the best wine I had last year, but I would not open the bottle for at least 10 years. It has everything you could ask for in a Ribera: classic nose, true to "terroir", bright dark fruit, perfect balance, plums, spice, ultra long finish.

I have one bottle that I have earmarked for 2015.

Man! Talk about a mixed message!

Ok, so I'll find a way to justify laying one or two down for 10 years. But, if I'm looking for an incredible wine for this fall, knowing that I love VS, would I be making a mistake paying $230 and cracking one in September?

$230 is a very good price. If you are buying more than 3, open one now. If not, hold out. I think this wine will be one of the best Vega Sicilia's ever.

I had one of these on November 24th 2005 and it was quite tasty. I didn't take any notes so I can't give you any more than that.
