Hi there!
I just splurged and bought a few bottles of the '01 and '04 Quilceda Creek Cab, along with some '05 Baumard QdC Anyhow, I don't really know much about Quilceda Creek. The guy who sold me the bottles just raved about them and said that it's a great wine and the '02 and '03 had received 100 points from Rovani, so I figured that it sounded good. Since then, I've done some research and found that while many people love these wines, but some others hate them. I tried one of the '01's the other day and thought it was great, but I don't want to open an '04 yet, as I only have two.
So, has anyone tried the '04 Quilceda Creek Cabernet? Is it any comparison to the 100 point rated 2002 or 2003? I saw that Stephen Tanzer only gave it 94-96 points. Was 2004 a good year in Washington? I really hope this is a good wine and I didn't get tricked into buying something that isn't worth it. I know how some wineries have a great year or two and then flop the year after. I guess there is no way this wine will get 100 points since the '02 and '03 did. They would never give three 100 point scores in a row, right?
Also, how do these wines age? Do people think that they have the structure to age well? Are older vintages of Quilceda Creek good wines?
Thanks to those in the know. I'm still learning! Ciao!
