No, but did you buy any? I usually buy these every year. I missed out on the 02s. What have you heard about the 03s, Winetex?

Can I throw out the same question for the 02s then since we are on the topic?

I haven't heard anything tasting-wise abotu the 03s. At less than $40 so they might be a good deal. Haven't ever had the wine but people seem to like it.

iirc, Stemor really like these wines. Maybe he'll chime in.

Short, ojeffso, & I are also fans of the wine. I have not seen the 02s either. Winetex, you've seen the 03s already? And, under $40.00?

I am still holding the 99s & 01s.

They are pre-arrival so I'm not sure when they will be in.

Yes, but I'm wondering if I should buy some. I think probably is the answer.

I own the 1999 and 2001 versions of this wine - both are world class in my opinion.

Since this stuff seems to appear in many retail stores, I will just buy one tester bottle then make my decision to add more upon tasting. In other words, I'dl sacrifice a savings of $10 (assuming it retails for around $50 like it usually does) to ensure I love the wine.

I would also appreciate a note on these, the 02s &/or 03s.

Winetex: pre-arrival @ P-Cru?

Pre-arrival but not PC, the Wine Club SA. I'm trying to buy a few of them but they are already out and seeing if they can order more. It's a decent price.

This stuff finally landed at many retailers (Woodland Hills has it for $34 which appears to be the cheapest).

Any tasting notes would be appreciated.

Blair - did you receive the Woodland Hills email about this wine? It had a couple of tasting notes. One of them had to be a translation because it was fairly strange.

No - I didn't receive it (I'm not on their e-mailing list). Do any of the notes sound positive? If you still have it, can you copy/paste in here or PM?

I ended up buying a few bottles.

Here are the TNs from the email. The second one cracks me up but you do get an impression of decent quality.

A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.

Daniel Thomases (The Wine Advocate Italian correspondent) in I Vini di Veronelli 2006: “Which is better, the superb Villa Fidelia Rosso from this year (2003) or that unforgettable 2001? [That would be] quite a contest, and one hopes for many chances to make the comparison. 95 points.”

Duemilavini 2006, published by A.I.S. (Associazione Italiana Sommelier, the i.e., Italian Sommelier Society): “A deep ruby robe, powerfully concentrated, is the visual prelude to this excellent wine, that on successive tastings traces a crescendo of harmony. High-impact nose, ample and well integrated, marked by perfumes that promise evolution, and that for now express themselves as a confiture of small forest fruits, sour cherries, and brushstroke of spices, [all] joined with the whiff of [a] balsamic note. But above all, it is for the flavor that we will remember it: soft attack, noble and unctuous tannins, a finish that opens itself to a myriad of perceptions that renew themselves and succeed in amplifying the retro-olfacory picture. 5 grappoli (5 “grape bunches,” their highest rating).”

Thanks! I had forgotten that the WA reviewed it. That second note is quite unique indeed.

If the second note wasn't translated from Italian then the reviewer was deep into their Grappa. LOL
