I know on Invision forums, users can be permissioned to be able to embed simple files (like a word doc or a pdf, for other to click on and thus download and read. Is that possible here?

That is possible, but I'm worried about abuse and the extra moderation required if people upload inappropriate content. How do other forums handle this issue?
By tjaehnigen @ 3/21/2007
Well, it does require some Policing, Rev. Embedded files do open the door to inappropriate things happening, but, assuming the rules of your forum basically say, "what you say goes and if you don't like it tough noogie!", which IMO every forum host should include in their rules, then there should be no problem as you and the other moderators (are there other moderators anymore?) can delete the stuff brought to your attention if you so see fit. JMHO.

I might work on "attaching" files... but they wouldn't come up as embedded in the post. A different solution was already found for that however, if the image is already hosted on another website. Just copy is from one browser, and paste it into the "reply" window... (not the quick reply). I'm also working on individual user image galleries... so people can upload their own pics. With those other options in the works, I'm closing this particular feedback.
